About The Cup

In the late summer of 2013, a subtle phone conversation about taking a golf trip with a small group of friends blossomed into what we have today. Brett Grittini had mentioned a tournament his older brother Brandon participated in that traveled the country to some of the more impressive golf destinations. The seed was planted and all it needed was a little time to sprout.

A few weeks later, 16 men came together to participate in the first annual All American Cup. Though it was new and put together in just a matter of weeks, ‘the first annual’ was an enormous success. Team Blue won in convincing fashion, but all players had an experience they would not forget.

The idea behind the All American Cup was to provide a golfing experience that included a team atmosphere and a level of competition most had not previously experienced in golf. In the early stages, many participants were just weekend warriors looking to hit an occasional shot that would be remembered by many. Now, on the cusp of the 6th annual event, the process has been refined and the edges smoothed.

Our overall quality of participant has increased dramatically. Many players have played collegiate and high school golf. A significant portion of the rest of the field played collegiate athletics in other sports. The play and intensity continue to rise while still providing an experience that is nearly second to none.

For the first five years of play, the format was the same. Three partner matches were played, a scramble, four ball, and modified alternate shot, before head to head singles matches on Sunday. I am pleased to announce a change in format for the sixth season. This year we will replace modified alternate shot with the Chapman Format. As many golf courses make changes and refine some of their holes over time, this change in format should bring a breath of fresh air into the tournament.
